So this is Alistair speaking, you know, in case you somehow don't recognise the sound of my voice even though you're trying to talk to me. I'm not here or you'd be talking to me and not hearing this. You can leave me a message or share any juicy gossip or embarrassing secrets on this thing and I'll answer you or tell everyone I know when I find it. Maybe. Or maybe I won't because I don't want to talk to you and I'm really sitting here listening to you and laughing and just pretending not to be here, you'll never know! You should definitely share those embarrassing secrets though. I wouldn't tell everyone - just a few people and- *BEEP*

Swear on my life it's true. There are thirteen eggs, if I recall. I don't really know more than that, just that they were found by some Warden recruits.

Real live griffons... [It... doesn't make up for everything else he's heard. He's not so callous as to even suggest as much to Carver. But it is still exciting and something to look forward to.] That's amazing! I thought they were gone for good. You have to tell me if get to see them for yourself! Or- do you think you might get one yourself?
[If they're found in Alistair's own future could he get one? A griffon of his own to ride, just like the Wardens of old? ...Unless he ends up king. Then it would be out of the question. But he can still dream.]

Everyone did. Not sure on all the details on them, but everyone I'd spoken to was surprised to hear the news.
[ He laughs a little, shaking his head. Then... realizes that Alistair probably can't see that. ]
No, I doubt I'll get one. Not if there's only thirteen. Don't know what they're going to do or if they'll be able to breed them from those thirteen. It'd be nice, though, if they could. Know I'd like to have one. [ The smile he wears is evident in his tone. ] You—the Alistair I know—is the most senior Warden. Probably get first pick.

[Which means nothing given he doubts - hopes - he'll never end up in a position of sufficient authority within the Wardens to be the one in charge of something that important. But if they stumble on some griffons whilst in Wonderland, Carver strikes him as a good man and trustworthy. And he's good with animals so clearly a good choice.]
Have you told any of the others?

It does, however, make him smile to hear something like that. It's such an Alistair thing to say. ]
Thanks.
[ And though he says it with a bit of a laugh, he means it. Likely won't ever come to fruition, but it'd be nice. Being part of a griffon rider team might make the inevitable easier to take. ]
And no, I haven't. I— [ he hesitates, wondering if he should explain that he doesn't like Anders in the least, and he doesn't know Robyn at all and finds talking to her a bit difficult. In the end, he decides against it. ] –just thought you'd like to know.
no subject
I do! I mean, I'm glad you told me. [In case that wasn't already obvious.] You don't mind if I tell them myself, do you?
[Robyn at least will be just as excited as he was to hear the news. Although he can guess why Carver might not have shared it with them yet. Being thrown into a group of strangers, common ground or not, is a difficult thing to deal with. And on top of everything Carver has already had to deal with? He's not going to blame the man for needing some time to get comfortable around them all.]
no subject
No, I don't mind.
[ Why would he? It's not like it's an exclusive secret or anything. ...he doesn't think. Well, it's not like it matters much either way, none of the current Wardens are from his life, anyway. ]
Well, that's really all I had. So. Glad to share some good news, at least.
[ There's an obvious pause while he figures out if he wants to leave it at that or continue. ]
I'll see you around?

[Carver is a Warden and a Ferelden and, based on a survey of others in Wonderland with both those characteristics, they're going to be friends. It's just a given. So he better get used to Alistair's presence as it's not going away in a hurry if he has anything to say about it.]
